I found this short article to be interesting. Some of it confirms more for me what I thought were trends in various technologies. The point I appreciated the most was:
Be satisfied with small steps, and don’t let time (or the absence of it) get in your way. Instead, make time to look at, research, and test new development techniques and tools.
Since the ADL just recently released an implementation guide, I thought it might be helpful to provide a list of some of the various SCORM implementation guides I am aware of at the moment.
Every holiday season, I’m asked the question, “So…what do you want for Christmas?”. Do be honest, I think I have enough stuff (and I think other family members have enough too). A good quarter of the stuff I have I don’t use enough of in my mind. But the question still exists and if I say *nothing* or choose to get family members nothing those relationships will be hurt.
Either way, buynothingchristmas.org, is a cute site that tries to encourage the perspective of *not* buying anything this Christmas season or at the very least limiting the amount of spending on gifts.
They provide some interesting alternatives, most of which involve making the gift yourself. I doubt I’ll be able to completely resist the gift buying/receiving this season, but it gives me more to think about throughout the coming year.
Found a Slashdot post on how to Build Your Own Linux PVR
Cool. So much to learn.
Claude Ostyn at Click2Learn has a little site that he updates periodically with documents or other materials related to SCORM or IMS implementation. I check it infrequently, but as luck would have it I came across it today to find a Toolbook *application* targeted at enabling simple sequencing functionality AND a SCO wrapper series of pages aimed at catching API calls from SCORM conformant content for testing purposes.
The ADL released two major documents that have been eagerly anticipated. The first, The SCORM Implementation Guide: A Step by Step Approach, seeks to help clarify issues around implementation of the SCORM specification within content developed. And the second, SCORM Version 1.3 Application Profile Working Draft Version 0.9, focuses on incorporating the IMS Simple Sequencing specification, which as you might guess focuses on establishing a common framework for the sequencing of content.
The BBC has an article entitled, “University wins rainmaking grant“. This quite honestly disturbs me. I personally think we mess around too much with the larger world around us as it is. How can we possibly think we know what type of environmental effect creating rain in an area where rain has evolved over millions of years to NOT happen.
